    Choosing the Right Ramp Slope

    When selecting a slope for your wheelchair ramp, it's important to consider both safety and ease of use. Here are the three most common slope options:

    • 1:12 Slope (Recommended for most users): This is the standard slope for wheelchair ramps, where for every inch of rise, there should be 12 inches of ramp. It offers a gentle incline and is the safest and most comfortable option for most individuals using wheelchairs, scooters, or walkers. This slope complies with ADA guidelines and is ideal for general use.
    • 1:10 Slope: This slightly steeper slope offers a quicker ascent for users who have stronger mobility but may require a little more effort. It's still a safe choice, though it may be harder for some individuals to navigate for long periods.
    • 1:8 Slope (Steepest option): This slope is the steepest of the three, offering a 1-inch rise for every 8 inches of ramp. While it provides a faster ascent, it is the least recommended for general use, as it can be challenging and less safe, particularly for users with limited mobility or those who rely on a wheelchair or scooter.

    Which Slope Should You Choose?

    For the safest and most accessible option, we recommend choosing the 1:12 slope for your ramp. It provides the most comfortable experience, ensuring smooth and easy navigation. However, if space is limited or if the user has stronger mobility, the 1:10 slope may be a suitable alternative. We advise against using the 1:8 slope unless absolutely necessary, as it can be difficult for many users to safely navigate.
