Choosing the Right Ramp Slope

When selecting a slope for your wheelchair ramp, it's important to consider both safety and ease of use. Here are the three most common slope options:

1:12 Slope (Recommended for most users): This is the standard slope for wheelchair ramps, where for every inch of rise, there should be 12 inches of ramp. It offers a gentle incline and is the safest and most comfortable option for most individuals using wheelchairs, scooters, or walkers. This slope complies with ADA guidelines and is ideal for general use.
1:10 Slope: This slightly steeper slope offers a quicker ascent for users who have stronger mobility but may require a little more effort. It's still a safe choice, though it may be harder for some individuals to navigate for long periods.
1:8 Slope (Steepest option): This slope is the steepest of the three, offering a 1-inch rise for every 8 inches of ramp.
